Wofford says the Boyle County Detention Center does not have a holiday release program and does not accept cash apps or prepaid cards for any bills associated with the jail. The callers are falsely claiming the detention center has started a program allowing inmates to be released on an ankle monitor so they can be home for the holidays.
The scammers are requesting several thousand dollars, to be paid through cash apps or prepaid cards. Anyone who receives a call requesting money for this alleged program is asked to contact the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.
