South Buster Pike Bridge Replacement

Bridge Out Sign

Boyle County Judge Executive Trille L. Bottom today announced the upcoming project to replace the Buster Pike Bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railway in Boyle County.

“Beginning on March 8th, South Buster Pike will be closed to through traffic as the bridge is demolished to make way for a new, safer bridge,” said Judge Bottom, who added “This is a much-needed project.  The bridge does not meet current standards, and I am anxious to see it replaced.”

Norfolk Southern will be repairing the elevations of the track while the bridge is down.  Roger Johnson Public Works Director advised the public, “We anticipate Buster Pike being closed up to 12 months.  Residents of Buster Pike who normally use the bridge will need to modify your route.”

The project is being funded with both public and private dollars.  Boyle County Fiscal Court was awarded $1.6 million from the State of Kentucky and Norfolk Southern Railroad has contributed $200,000 toward the project.
