Boyle County Seal

Boyle County's rich heritage attracts thousands of visitors throughout the year. They come and see the first post office west of the Allegheny Mountains at Constitution Square. They tour the McDowell House, home of a courageous physician who, at this site 200 years ago, performed the world's first successful abdominal surgery. They experience the seemingly pristine countryside at Perryville, where one of the fiercest battles of the Civil War was fought. They drive through Kentucky's unique Knob lands to Penn's Store, listed as the oldest country store in America still in operation by the same family. They visit award-winning downtown Danville with its wonderful shops, restaurants and beautifully painted buildings. They take tours and have tastings at the Wilderness Trail Bourbon Distillery.

Come and you'll find what you've been looking for at the very Heart of Kentucky, with its tradition and distinctive blend of Southern hospitality with just a touch of formality in a casual, friendly atmosphere.

You can visit the Danville-Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau for more ideas and information.
